New York, NY, March 4, 2014 – Elizabeth Arden, Inc. today, in tandem with the release of a clinical study published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, unveiled Triple Protection Factor Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 50+, or TPF 50, a groundbreaking new anti-aging product. TPF 50 was developed based on a unique combination of protective ingredients including a DNA Enzyme Complex, a highly potent protein protection Antioxidant Complex and broad spectrum SPF 50+ sun protection. This combination works synergistically to create the most effective topical skin protection on the market. TPF 50 is the first of a comprehensive new skincare line, Elizabeth Arden Rx, designed for exclusive distribution in physician offices.
A key pillar to Elizabeth Arden’s omni-channel growth strategy, Elizabeth Arden Rx marks the company’s official entry into the global professional skincare market .
"With over a 100-year commitment to delivering cutting-edge skincare technology, Elizabeth Arden set out to develop the next generation in topical skin protection,” said E. Scott Beattie, President & Chief Executive Officer of Elizabeth Arden, Inc., “We identified an opportunity for innovation in this category and concentrated our research on the development of a breakthrough product that addresses multiple benefits and provides unparalleled skin protection; TPF 50 is the culmination of these efforts."
The results of the double-blind irradiation study published in today’s issue of the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology show TPF 50 to be significantly more effective than other topical products with DNA Enzymes, Antioxidants and/or Growth Factors when these products were used in combination with SPF 50 sunscreens. The study was authored by Dr. Enzo Emanuele, MD PhD—internationally recognized award-winning clinical pathologist and CEO of Living Research s.a.s. in Robbio, Italy—and leading skin cancer researcher, Professor of Clinical Dermatology at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, James M. Spencer, MD. Dr. Spencer is also on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD).
"With the introduction of TPF 50, Elizabeth Arden is taking an all-inclusive approach by, setting a new standard in skin protection,” said Dr. Spencer. “This revolutionary combination is clinically-proven to have more protective effects on the skin than other commonly used products."
The beauty care giant tapped the innovation expertise of US CosmeceuTechs, LLC and its CEO, Joe Lewis to collaborate on the project. Lewis, a chemist and cosmeceutical skincare researcher, is best known for introducing some of the world’s most cutting-edge skincare ingredients including Alpha-Hydroxy Acid in 1983, Idebenone in 2004 and CoffeeBerry® in 2007.
After years of research and development, in collaboration with Signum Biosciences, Lewis and the Elizabeth Arden team discovered that the three components working together in TPF 50 are more effective in reducing the risks associated with premature signs of aging and skin cancer .
TPF 50 is designed to maintain radiant, glowing skin day after day, with a universal tint designed to work with all skin tones. This multi-functional product is an essential step in skin health and beauty regimens for all skin types.
TPF 50 is an extraordinary advancement in topical skincare offering triple protection while supporting the skin’s natural repair system:
- SPF 50: Broad Spectrum Physical sunscreen with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide.
- Antioxidant Complex: Unlike sunscreen, antioxidants scavenge free radicals before these harmful molecules can cause damage to skin cells. This antioxidant complex was designed specifically to protect essential skin proteins against harmful degradation.
DNA Enzyme Complex: Helps protects against free radical damage to support the skin’s own natural repair system.
- Arazine: patented antioxidant that protects against the harmful effects of free radicals resulting in skin inflammation
- L-Carnosine: dipeptide antioxidant that protects protein from glycation and carbonylation
- L-Ergothioneine: amino acid antioxidant that scavenges free radicals and offers critical protection to proteins and DNA
- Photolyase: light activated enzyme that helps protect against free radical damage
- Endonuclease: enzyme helps protect against free radical damage
- 8-oxoguanine Glycosylase: enzyme that helps protect against Guanine oxidation
TPF 50 will debut with the Elizabeth Arden Rx (ElizabethArdenRx.com) line at the annual American Academy of Dermatology Meeting on March 21, 2014, where the company will co-sponsor the Skin Cancer Foundation’s annual event and preview this extraordinary breakthrough in topical skin protection. The products will be available exclusively at physician offices mid May 2014.
